  • Dr. Cristina Cavinato is an assistant professor in biomechanics at the University of Montpellier in France, affiliated with the Laboratory of Mechanics and Civil Engineering (LMGC, CNRS UMR 5508). She is a member of the BIOTIC team, which investigates the biomechanics and mechanobiology of native and engineered soft tissues.

Her research focuses on the multiscale mechanics of fibrous soft tissues, combining experimental characterization with computational modeling. She leads projects on neo-articular tissues for orthopedic surgery, ECM-cell micromechanical interactions in pathological remodeling, and the development of growth and remodeling models for cardiovascular and joint tissues.

Prior to joining LMGC in 2022, she was a postdoctoral associate at Yale University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, where she worked on vascular biomechanics and tissue adaptation. She holds a Ph.D. from École des Mines de Saint-Étienne, with a thesis on the micromechanics of aortic aneurysm rupture.
