Two months of PELVITRACK: a promising start towards safer childbirth

It’s been just two months since we officially launched the PELVITRACK project, funded by the European Innovation Council (EIC Pathfinder Grant ID 101186212) and we’re excited to share the momentum we have already built. PELVITRACK is taking its first bold steps towards transforming how we understand and manage perineal trauma during childbirth.

Why PELVITRACK?

Perineal injury affects a significant number of women globally during vaginal delivery, often leading to long-term health consequences that are under-recognised and under-addressed. The PELVITRACK project aims to predict and prevent these injuries in real time by developing a lab-scale monitoring solution that integrates advanced biomechanical modelling and sensor-based technology.

Our mission is ambitious, but clear: to help clinicians make safer, more informed decisions during delivery and to ensure better outcomes for birthing women.

A global kick-off in Alès, France

The project officially kicked off with an in-person meeting on 8 April 2025 in Alès, France. Hosted by our partners at IMT Mines Alès, the meeting brought together nearly all members of the PELVITRACK consortium and our international Scientific Innovation Advisory Board (SIAB).

Attendees joined from across the globe (Europe, USA and Australia), reflecting the truly international scope of our collaboration. The kickoff was an opportunity to align our vision, refine technical and clinical goals, and energise the team around the work ahead.

A new digital home

We’re also proud to announce the launch of our official PELVITRACK website! The site will serve as a hub for updates, insights, publications, and events related to the project. You can now explore our objectives, meet the consortium, and follow our progress as we move forward.

What’s next?

Over the coming months, we will begin lab-scale development of our prototype system, engage with stakeholders across clinical and patient communities, and continue building awareness about the importance of perineal health in childbirth.

Thank you for following along on this journey—we look forward to sharing more milestones with you soon.
